Frequently Asked Questions

Physiotherapy is treatment to restore, maintain, and make the most of a patient’s mobility, function, and well-being. Physiotherapy helps through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness. Physiotherapists get you involved in your own recovery.

Typically, an appointment will last 30-60 minutes depending on your condition. If you are required to attend further treatment, your Physio will advise you on how long these sessions will last.

You don’t need a referral although we encourage you to consult with your treating Orthopaedician , Neurologist or any treating Doctor .

Physiotherapists have knowledge and experience in supporting and caring for people of all ages with mobility, pain, speech, sensory, musculoskeletal and psychological problems. They can help people manage their conditions so they can live as independently as possible.

Your session will be unique, because it is all about you and your particular needs. In general, here’s what happens:

  • The physiotherapist learns about your medical history
  • The physiotherapist assesses and diagnoses your condition
  • You receive a treatment plan that sets goals for you
  • You are prescribed a course of exercises and any assistive devices needed

Physiotherapists are first contact practitioners and do not require a referral from a doctor, therefore, like doctors, are able to diagnose an injury, and follow it up with a treatment plan.

Your physio will need to have a good view of the affected body part. Shorts and a T-shirt are ideal as many problem areas can be accessed easily, such as arm or leg injuries.

My mother underwent a bilateral knee replacement surgery around 3 months back after which we were advised to start with physiotherapy immediately. Dr. Lorraine and her team at physioedge are incredible! They are so caring and understanding and have so much concern regarding the recovery. Their clinic is very well equipped and their staff is very polite and professional. Dr Lorraine is so warm, empathetic and easy to speak to. She was always available on phone calls too and solved every doubt during the entire course of the treatment. She really makes sure you are headed on the right path.Special thanks to Dr. Christal who was assigned to her as her physiotherapist. She was so sweet and caring throughout our entire treatment process, right from home therapy sessions till my mother was confident to visit the clinic on her own. She is very knowledgeable and taught her a variety of exercises including strengthening the muscles to improving range of motion and balance and also kept a track of her daily recovery. She made sure my mother reached her goal faster than we all expected. We will always be grateful to Dr. Lorraine and her team at Physioedge 🙏

In Manipal Hospital Goa, I was diagnosed with palsy and prescribed physiotherapy and specific exercises. The neurologist recommended Physio Edge Therapy Center Ponda run by Dr. Lorraine Saldanha. My friends also suggested the same. The place, I noticed, is very patient-friendly and Dr. Lorraine Saldanha gave individual attention to the patients. The progress of the patient is constantly recorded and necessary changes (if required) were made in the therapy to ensure speedy recovery. The therapists are very qualified and experienced.A few weeks of therapy cured me fully. I am thankful and very happy with the results.
